The criminal aspect of such an action is known in law as "subornation
of perjury." In federal law this felony is found at 18 USC 1622, and reads; Whoever procures another to commit any perjury is guilty of subornation of perjury,
and shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both. In this context, 'procure' means "To obtain or bring about, especially by unscrupulous means."
